Welcome!

The LDTC is conducting a fund-raising drive to keep our program running through the 2008-2009 year.
Please consider a donation to meet our goal of raising $10,000. Your donations will be used for essential components of our operating costs, supporting items such as:

- Stipends for participating native speakers
- Equipment and supplies
- Travel expenses for participants to conduct additional work in their home communities

The Language Documentation Training Center (LDTC) helps native speakers of underdocumented languages document their languages. The goals are simple: native speakers spend a semester attending workshops on linguistics, language documentation techniques, relevant computer software, and issues in documentation. Graduate student volunteers teach the workshops and mentor the students as they create the language documentation webpages you will see here. It is our hope that students will become enthusiastic about what they learn and continue documenting their language either with the LDTC or back home in their home communities. We also hope that they will share this knowledge with their communities demonstrating that they can play a dynamic role in the preservation, maintenance, and continuation of their languages. The commitment of one person can make all the difference.
