A Public Debate on Universal Grammar
The hypothesis that humans are innately endowed with language-specific
predispositions that guide them in learning their native language is among
the most influential ideas of modern linguistics and cognitive science, as
well as one of the most contentious. This debate will address foundational
issues of the Universal Grammar hypothesis, focusing especially on
Arguments from the Poverty of the Stimulus.

A DVD copy of this debate may be obtained from the Linguistics Department secretaries in Moore 569
