In memory of Stanley Starosta

Stanley Starosta, Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawaii, passed away on July 18, 2002, as the result of heart failure.  Stan's friends, colleagues and students honored him at a moving memorial service on September 13.  Their reminiscences and tributes as well as those of friends and colleagues who could not attend the service can be found below, along with a detailed biography by Byron Bender that appears in Oceanic Linguistics, Vol. 41, No. 2 (2002).  There is also a link to Stan's former personal website, through which a number of his papers and data-rich handouts can be accessed.
