Reasons to come to GALANA 2004

There are lots of reasons to come to GALANA 2004.  Of course the main reason you should attend GALANA is all the new and interesting reseach that will be presented.  However, in case you need some further motivation, our organizing committee has composed just some of the added bonuses of coming to Hawaii for the inaugural GALANA 2004.

Reason #1
GALANA 2004 will be held at the Imin East-West Center, on the beautiful campus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa.  This is what the Imin center looked like on December 16th, 2003.  The Imin center is only minutes by foot from the two co-sponsoring departments (Department of Linguistics and  Department of Second Language Studies) as well as Lincoln Hall and Hale Manoa (where we recommend  you make reservations for accomodation).

Reason #2
Finally, take a look at the left panel of this screen and think about that star-studded list of invited speakers.  How can you say no to that?  Nina Hyams, Rex A. Sprouse, Luigi Rizzi.  And all of that on a tropical isle in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

If you want to know what the weather will be like in December, take a look at what Hawaii looked like exactly one year before GALANA 2004 (Photograph size: 156K).  This is a photograph taken from the conference room of the Linguistics department on December 17, 2003 (approximately 4pm).
