CHUUKESE IDIOMS

My Word of Gratitude...

First of all, I would like to say “TIROW” to all the Chuukese traditional leaders and the native speakers. I am sure that some of the words are not explained the way that you would explain them. But I hope this project can at least makes you happy to see our language being displayed at different parts of the world.

I hope that we can work together to preserve our language and to continue teaching the younger generation about our culture, our values, our beliefs, and most importantly our language.

I would like to say a special “KINISOW CHAPUR” to everybody that helped me to make this project a possibility. This project is put together as a sample project for the Language Documentation Project at the Linguistic Department, University of Hawaii at Manoa with potential interest to expand it to something useful and meaningful to the outside world to understand the Chuukese Culture and to the Chuukese community as well, to preserve their identity.
