NAXI

ABOUT ME AND MY LANGUAGE

My name is Qinglian Zhao. I am a Naxi woman from Lijiang City in Yunnan Province, China. My mother as well as my brother and his family live in Lijiang. Now I live in Kunming City with my husband and my son. My husband is a Chinese Han; he can not speak Naxi. It is a pity that my son can not speak Naxi either. I work for the Minority Language Commission of Yunnan Province. I am studying linguistics at University of Hawaii  now. This is my first semester here.
